Reconciliation between the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus and Addis Ababa and Surroundings Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus

Dear friends in Christ,

At the dawn of the 3rd Ethiopian Millennium (Ethiopian Calendar) I joyfully inform you that the long standing conflict that existed between the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus and the Addis Ababa and Surrounding Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (the broke away Church)has come to an end this day of August 27,2008.

Leaders from sides as well a~ congregations leaders and congregation pastors in Addis Ababa went through a reconciliation process for the last ten days, reconciled and agreed to unit together as one Church, The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus.

Mean while, separated congregations in Addis Ababa and else where will continue to integrate in their respective places to join to worship together as EECMY Congregations. A committee for reconciliation has already been formed to undertake the reconciliation and unification process at the Congregations and grassroots level.

Dear friends, the EECMY at this juncture wants to appreciate you for your prayers and support during the struggles to walk such a difficult but blessed road so that our conflict could be resolved.

Dear friends,
This is the day for the EECMY and her partners to rejoices and thank our God for what He did for His people. Let us rejoice together. Further details of the reconciliation process are being documented and will be sent to you at a later stage.

It is our hope that the Church will continue to work hard in Peace and harmony with the aim of compensating the lost opportunities during the conflict years in her services and life. The EECMY anticipates that you partners would continue with your commitment to accompany inher endeavor in the Mission of God to serve His people in the years to come. Therefore, the EECMY still needs your prayers and support to be strengthened.

With regards,
Iteffa Gobena (Rev.)
President, EECMY
